Business Professionals of America is the nation’s leading CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, information technology, finance, accounting, office administration, and other business-related career fields.

As an intra-curricular organization, Business Professionals of America aims to increase student participation in professional, civic, service, and social endeavors. Members participate in these activities to enhance key skills in the areas of self-improvement, leadership development, professionalism, community service, career development, public relations, cooperation, safety, and health.

BPA currently has nearly 45,000 members across more than 1,800 local chapters throughout 25 states and Puerto Rico as well as an international presence in China and Peru. New Mexico BPA has been a chartered association since 1967. This is over 55 years of leadership history!  BPA supports business and information technology educators by offering intra-curricular exercises that are aligned with nationally recognized industry standards.

The Workplace Skills Assessment Program (WSAP) is an integral part of Business Professionals of America. The goal of the program is to provide all business students with the opportunity to demonstrate workplace skills learned through business education curricula. Students prepare for and compete in contests in over 90 categories, under five assessment areas including:

  • Finance
  • Business Administration
  • Management Information Systems
  • Digital Communication & Design
  • Management, Marketing, & Communication
  • Health Administration

Some of BPA’s other major programs include the National Leadership Academy, Officer Elections and scholarships. The Torch Awards Program and BPA Cares Program recognize students and chapters, respectively, for their leadership and service to their chapter and community.
